Mission

Mission Statement

The University of Maribor library is the central library of the University of Maribor. It collects, organizes, maintains and preserves the unique written records of human thought and creativity and provides access to them. It stimulates and supports the intellectual growth, flow of information and ideas of the written knowledge and as such supports the educational, scientific, research, professional and artistic work of the University of Maribor. The University of Maribor library is a guardian of the cultural heritage of the Slovenian nation and country, of scientific heritage of the University of Maribor, and of local heritage of the city of Maribor and its surroundings. It provides effective and integral access to written knowledge to its users regardless to its ownership and form. The library is a learning centre and with its collections and services supports the processes of education, teaching and research at the University of Maribor, as well as the intellectual personal and expert growth and lifelong learning of all library users.

Aims:

• collecting, purchasing, organising, keeping and preservation of the unique records of human thought and creativity regardless to its ownership or form;
• users’ education, information literacy as well as personal and professional development promotion for the users and staff; 
• ensuring a simply accessible, user friendly and safe environment for the users and staff;
• using the innovative technology for achieving productivity and effectiveness;
• encouraging communication and cooperation between partner libraries, faculties and other educational institutions, and the local environment;
• encouraging creative ideas and development to a dynamic institution, which responds to changes of aims and needs of the University and its environment;
• library’s constant efficiency growth.
