BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN FOR STUDENTS

For several years, the Student Council of the University of Maribor has been organising blood donation campaigns for students during both the autumn and spring terms. This year, the campaign will be held in March on the following dates:

• March 11th, 2024, from 8 AM to 1 PM at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
• March 12th, 2024, from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Centre for Transfusion Medicine of the University Medical Centre Maribor.
• March 13th, 2024, from 8 AM to 1 PM at the Faculty of Education.

Students (as well as other interested individuals) are encouraged to participate in blood donations at any time during these dates. However, scheduling an appointment in advance is advisable. You can call +386 41 320 796 or +386 41 479 242 (weekdays between 3 PM and 5 PM).

Blood donation is entirely voluntary, anonymous, and free of charge. The process typically takes about 5-10 minutes, during which 450 ml of blood is donated. Donors will receive a complimentary snack afterwards. While this may seem like a small effort for the donor, it can significantly impact the lives of those in need. Notably, a single donor can save up to three lives with just one donation.

In Slovenia, an average of 300 to 350 blood donors are required daily to meet the demand for blood among patients. The Student Council’s campaign seeks to instil humanitarian values among students, aiming to integrate blood donation into their lifestyles during their academic years.
