BORROW E-BOOKS WITH COBISS ELA PLATFORM

When borrowing e-books with the Biblos system of the University Library Maribor, there is also a possibility to borrow e-books with COBISS Ela platform. Currently, there are 33 e-books that one can choose from; however, the new platform will be regularly updated and improved. The borrowing of books is possible through the COBISS+ catalogue or mCOBISS mobile app and is free for members.

E-books can be borrowed through the COBISS+ catalogue and My Library service – all you need is the number of your library membership card and the password (the same data used for online service My Library). Before reading, one should install a proper reading app:

• Cantook by Aldiko (for Apple phones and tablets)
• FBReader (for Android devices)
• Thorium Reader (for Windows, macOS, and Linux)

The process of borrowing a book:

1. Find the title in the COBISS+ catalogue or click on the COBISS Ela icon.
2. Choose the option “borrow” and sign into My Library.
3. Click “download” to download the book to your device.
4. Open the chosen e-book in the app (Thorium Reader, Cantook by Aldiko or FBReader) and begin your reading.

You can read on two devices at the same time and borrow up to 5 books at once for a period of 21 days. After the period expires, the books will automatically be returned. They can also be returned manually 24 hours after borrowing them.

COBISS Ela is compatible with various readers that support Android 5.0 (or newer versions) and enable downloading apps from the Google Play store. Reading e-books is enabled on readers, such as: InkBOOK Focus, Calypso, and all Onyx BOOX models. Kobo readers currently don’t support COBISS Ela, but should by the end of the year.
