PRESENTATION OF BOOKS: CHAPTERS ON VARIANTS OF THE SLOVENE LANGUAGE AND THE EMINENCE OF SLOVENE LANGUAGE
06. March 2025
Wednesday, 12 March 2025, 5 PM, Glazer Hall
At the upcoming event in the Sessions with Books series, two new monographs by linguist Prof. Dr. Marko Jesenšek will be presented: Chapters on Variants of the Slovene Language and The Eminence of the Slovene Language from the Zora collection.
In Chapters on Variants of the Slovenian Language (Carniolan, Eastern Styrian, and Prekmurje dialects), Jesenšek examines the development of Slovene language and the unification of the literary norm in the mid-19th century. In The Eminence of the Slovene Language, he highlights the pitfalls of linguistic globalization and explores all acceptable options for using a foreign language of instruction at Slovenian universities.
The discussion with Dr. Marko Jesenšek will be moderated by Dr. Natalija Ulčnik. The musical program will feature performances by Barbara Jesenšek (violin) and Srečko Kovačič (clarinet).
We look forward to your visit!
