VIEWS ON SLOVENIAN MODERNISM: MONOGRAPH PRESENTATION
12. March 2025
Wednesday, 19 March 2025, 5 p.m., Glazer Hall
The scientific monograph Views on Slovenian Modernism by researcher Dr. Jožica Čeh Steger is subtitled National, Multicultural, and Intercultural Concepts, Short Prose and Poetry and presents studies of literary creators from various literary movements at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
From the perspective of various research approaches (intercultural literary studies, comparative studies, media theory, constructs of femininity, cognitive metaphor theory), the monograph complements and expands research on canonical authors (e.g. Cankar, Župančič) and pays special attention to previously under-researched or entirely overlooked authors, such as Kraigher, Šorli, Iz. Cankar, Govekar, Meško, Finžgar, Maister, Poljanec, Šuler, Remec, and others. Through research on G. Stridsberg, A. Wambrechtsamer, and R. H. Bartsch, the monograph broadens the national concept of Slovenian modernism into the realm of Slovenian-German bilingualism and interculturality.
The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Blanka Bošnjak.
We look forward to your visit!
