The 88th session of Remembering will focus on Dr. Pavel Turner (1842–1924), a publicist, patron, and educator born in Planica, Pohorje. Turner served as a private tutor in Budapest, Vienna, and the UK and was considered one of the most educated Slovenians of his time. From 1904 to 1921, he was the president of the Historical Society for the Slovene Styria. He left his fortune of 1.25 million dinars to fund scholarships at the University of Ljubljana. The books from his extensive library were donated to the libraries of Maribor – the city library and the academic library, now the University Library, where they were designated as “Bibliotheca Turneriana”.

Historian and librarian Dr. Vlasta Stavbar will present Dr. Turner's life, while historian and journalist Stanislav Kocutar will discuss Turner’s role as a patron and the broader importance of patronage.

The event is organized by the University of Maribor Library, the Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities, and the Association of Cultural Societies Maribor.
