Vladimir Bračič je v slovenski in mednarodni javnosti poznan kot prvi rektor Univerze v Mariboru. V akademskih krogih ga cenijo kot geografa, ki je bil poleg svojih številnih življenjskih nalog in funkcij ves čas predan raziskovanju in pedagoškemu delu. Izšolal se je za učitelja, a je okupacija med drugo svetovno vojno prekinila njegovo učiteljsko kariero. Po vojni je opravljal številne naloge s področja šolstva in prosvete. Študiral je geografijo in dosegel znanstveni doktorat, največji njegov projekt pa je bil ustanavljanje Univerze v Mariboru.
Pričujoči prispevek dopolnjuje že znano o Bračičevem življenju in delu z nekaterimi manj znanimi podatki, kot so njegovo poreklo, šolanje ter njegova službovanja. Osvetliti ga skuša tudi kot človeka, ki je s srcem do smrti ostal zvest svojemu rojstnemu kraju Cirkulanam.

Vladimir Bračič is in the Slovene and international public known as the first rector of the University of Maribor. He is in the academic circles appreciated as a geographer, who has along with his many life duties and functions always been dedicated to research and pedagogical work. He went to school to become a teacher, but the occupation du ring the World War II ended his teaching career. After the war he was active in many fields connected with school and education. He studied geography and reached a Ph.D. and his biggest project was the establishment of the University of Maribor. This article completes the already known facts from Bračič's life with some less known data like his origin, schooling and his employments. The author also tries to present him as a man who stayed loyal to his birthplace, Cirkulane, with all his heart.
