Mirko Munda: Franjo Pirc – pozabljeni slovenski časnikar in domoljub. Časopis za zgodovino
in narodopisje, Maribor 89=54(2018), 1–2, str. 81–101

Letos mineva 150 let od izida prve številke Slovenskega naroda, prvega slovenskega
dnevnika. Njegov prvi urednik (in prvi slovenski poklicni časnikar) je bil Dolenjec
Anton Tomšič, ki je pokopan v Mariboru. Med obema svetovnima vojnama pa so na
grob in spomenik Tomšiča pozabili. Propadla bi, če zanju ne bi skrbel Tomšičev rojak
Franjo Pirc, časnikar, urednik, jamar in vremenar.

Mirko Munda: Franjo Pirc – The Forgotten Slovene Journalist and Patriot. Review for
History and Ethnography, Maribor 89=54(2018), 1–2, pp. 81–101

It is the 150th anniversary this year, since the first issue of the Slovenski narod (Slovene
Nation), the first Slovene daily, was published. The newspaper’s first editor (and) the
first Slovene professional journalist was Anton Tomšič, born in Carniola and buried
in Maribor. Between both world wars, his grave and his monument were forgotten.
Tomšič’s fellow countryman, Franjo Pirc, a journalist, editor, speleologist and weatherman
took care of them; otherwise, they would have been destroyed.
