Avtor v razpravi obravnava zadnja leta življenja velikega slovenskega rodoljuba, celjskega odvetnika, deželnega poslanca, publicista in politika Ivana Dečka (1859-1908). Eden najvidnejših slovenskih politikov na Spodnjem Štajerskem je imel velike zasluge za slovenske uspehe v času mednacionalnih trenj med celjskimi Nemci ter Slovenci. Njegovo uspešno kariero je tragično prekinila duševna bolezen, za posledicami katere je tudi umrl.

Andrej Studen: The Sad End of a Slovene Patriot. Review for History and Ethnography, Maribor 81=46(2010), 1, pp. 29-37

The author discusses in this treatise the last years of the great Slovene patriot, lawyer from Celje, member of the county parliament, publicist and politician Ivan Dečko (1859-1908). One of the most evident and active members of the Slovene politics in the Lower Styria had, in the times of the severe international contradictions between the Celje Germans and Slovenes, without a doubt great credits for the Slovene successes. His successful career was disturbed by amental disease which tragically ended his life.
